What is Soca in Japan?+

Founded in 2016 by Soca enthusiasts from Trinidad & Tobago and Japan, Soca in Japan works to grow Soca music culture in Japan and connect Caribbean and Japanese fans.

What is Japan Soca Weekend?+

Asia’s largest Soca festival, held every September in Tokyo — bringing together Caribbean culture and Soca music fans from around the world.

Why September?+

September is one of the cheapest times to fly to Japan when booked early, it’s outside peak season, and the weather is still warm.

Is there a Carnival?+

Yes — the 4th annual Japan Caribbean Carnival takes place during Japan Soca Weekend in September 2026. Full details are announced in Spring 2026.

Tickets & packages

What packages are offered?+

Two options: a Weekend Pass (party tickets only, no ground transportation) or the Soca in Japan Tour Package (hotel, sightseeing, bilingual staff, transportation and airport pickup).

Can Weekend Pass holders join the tour?+

No. The tour schedule is tightly optimised over 8 days with vendor coordination that can’t accommodate separate participants.

Travel & logistics

When should I arrive in Japan?+

Weekend Pass holders should arrive by September 18, 2026. Tour package holders should arrive September 17, 2026 — one day before events begin.

Which airport should I use?+

Fly into Narita (NRT) or Haneda (HND) in Tokyo. Tour participants must use Haneda and arrive before 4 p.m.

Where should I stay?+

Shibuya in central Tokyo is recommended for independent travellers. Tour participants stay in the provided accommodation.

Does Japan accept credit cards?+

Most venues accept cards but some don’t, so carry cash. Japan does not accept foreign currencies.

What about visas and travel insurance?+

Check your country’s visa requirements on your government’s official site and apply at least 3 months ahead if needed. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect against cancellations and emergencies.
